EMC laboratory tests

Over the last few years, we have observed a very large interest of our customers in tests in the field of compliance with EU standards of new products introduced to the domestic and foreign markets, as well as the modernization of existing products in terms of their safety of use.

This is mainly due to the fact that electrical and electronic devices that do not meet the requirements of the EMC, LVD, RED or ROHS directives, and also do not have CE markings, cannot be distributed in the European Union countries. At the same time, there is no certificates allowing products to be marketed may be the reason for the market regulators to order their withdrawal and impose financial penalties on the institution placing them on the market.

Standards and directives

In response to the above requirements and customer requests, our procedures include EMC tests of the electronic device design commissioned to us. At the stage of developing the product concept, we suggest to our clients what general and subject standards must be met by their equipment before issuing the declaration of conformity. This approach to the implementation of the concept of the device allows you to eliminate possible defects at the initial stage of its creation. As a consequence, it becomes faster and cheaper to obtain certificates allowing the designed product to be sold.

In the field of application and interpretation of EU standards regarding electromagnetic compatibility, we cooperate with many research and certification units, both in Poland and abroad, including with the professional Laboratory of Electromagnetic Compatibility at the Department of Electronic and Telecommunications Systems at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rzeszów University of Technology.

Types of research

In terms of the requirements set out in the EMC Directive 2014/30 / EU, we have the possibility to carry out the following types of tests in the PR laboratory:

– Measurement of conducted electromagnetic disturbances in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 MHz
– Measurement of radiated electromagnetic disturbances in the frequency range from 30 MHz to 6GHz
– Electrostatic discharge immunity test (EN 61000-4-2)
– Research on immunity to electromagnetic fields (EN 61000-4-3)
– Immunity test against a series of fast electrical transients (EN 61000-4-4)
– Shock resistance test (EN 61000-4-5)
– Frequency injected immunity test radio (EN 61000-4-6)
– Test of immunity to dips, blackouts and changes in voltage in power circuits (EN 61000-4-11)
– Measurements of power consumption, stand-by mode, energy efficiency

VDE

The devices we design, if required, also meet the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and are adapted to the safety standards required by the German VDE technical organization. Equipment expertise in terms of operational safety and obtaining the VDE certificate is a prerequisite for the sale of many electrical and electronic products in Germany and Western Europe.

Our employees responsible for research and development regularly participate in meetings and specialist trainings, which give them the opportunity to obtain the latest information, keep abreast of changes in regulations and standards, with particular emphasis on CE marking procedures.
